Kevin’s String Quartet

Kevin Lam – 1st Violin

Kevin Lam is a grade 12 student who has a passion for music and enjoys helping the community. He has played the violin and piano for a number of years and is a violinist in several ensembles. His passions outside of music are skiing and trying new foods with friends.

Mark Kim – 2nd Violin

Mark Kim is a grade 12 student who has been playing music since childhood. Mark loves a variety of music genres such as jazz, rock, hip-hop, and metal. He plays the violin, piano, and guitar, but also enjoys movies and literature.

Cassandra Feltrin – Viola

Cassandra Feltrin is a grade 12 student who plays the violin and viola. She loves playing in groups and takes part in various chamber ensembles and orchestras. Otherwise, she can be found watching movies, talking with friends, or creating new Spotify playlists.

Joey Ye – Cello

Joey Ye is a grade 12 student that plays the cello and piano with a number of musical ensembles. Outside the practice room, you might catch them watching old movies late at night or indulging in other creative outlets such as visual arts.

John’s String Quartet

John Liang – 1st Violin

John Liang is a grade 11 student who has been playing the violin for almost 10 years. To him, music has always been a huge part of his life. Along with playing in chamber groups, John plays in his school orchestra and the Vancouver Symphony Youth Orchestra. If John is not found playing violin, it is highly likely to find him reading or listening to music.

Jonathan Xiao – 2nd Violin

Jonathan Xiao is a grade 11 student who first started playing the violin when he was 9. Since then, he’s been captivated by composers like Bach and Kreisler. Jonathan has previously been a part of Coquitlam Youth Orchestra and his school orchestra. When he’s away from his violin, he’s usually playing basketball or out skiing!

Brayden Jia – Viola

Brayden Jia is a grade 10 student who has played the violin and viola for many years. Music is one of his largest passions and hobbies. Brayden is currently a part of Coquitlam Youth Orchestra and in his spare time, he enjoys literature and art.

Rachel Yu – Cello

Rachel Yu is a grade 10 student who has been playing the cello since the age of five. Rachel has previously played with the Coquitlam Youth Orchestra, and in her spare time, she usually enjoys doing digital art or reading books.

Samantha’s String Quartet

Samantha Ku – 1st Violin

Samantha Ku is a grade 9 student who has playing the violin for 7 years and is currently studying with violinist Ken Lin. Samantha plays in a chamber group as well as at the Coquitlam Youth Orchestra. Outside of music, Samantha also enjoys listening to Kpop and learning choreography in her free time!

Gabriel Quiring – 2nd Violin

Gabriel has been playing the violin for almost over 9 years and is very passionate about the instrument and music in general. He has always tried to reach his goals by practicing and preparing to the best of his ability.

Sophie Wong – Viola

Sophie has been learning to play the viola for 6-7 years, and she enjoys it very much. She is a talented player and she is currently in Coquitlam Youth Orchestra. Her favourite composer is Debussy.

Hanna McRobbie – Cello

Hana has been learning cello for 4 years with Aleksandra Dziobek, and has participated in many competitions and concerts. She is currently a member of the Coquitlam Youth Orchestra. She also enjoys pursuing studies in ballet and piano.

Sunny’s Jazz Quartet

Sunny Wu – Saxophone

Sunny has been playing saxophone for almost 9 years and is a very talented musician. He likes to watch sports in his free time.

Leonardo Nieto – Piano

Leonardo is a jazz pianist that has been playing piano since 2019. His favourite artist is Oscar Peterson.

Yale Li – Bass Guitar

Yale has been playing the electric bass guitar for 7 years now. He loves playing jazz and jamming out! He also knows how to play the double bass and trumpet.

Owen Zhu – Drums

Owen Zhu is a drummer in both concert and jazz bands. He started music on the piano and eventually took up drums at the age of 8. He has since performed in many concert bands and jazz ensembles. His favourite classical composer is Liszt, and his favourite jazz musicians are those of the Dave Brubeck quartet.

Nicole’s Flute, Piano, Violin Quartet

Nicole Lee – Flute

Nicole Lee is a high school flutist and a Coquitlam Youth Orchestra member with a profound interest in music, especially the works by Prokofiev. When not at a music stand scrutinizing slightly daunting yet equally mesmerizing dots on a page, she enjoys her time at home with a book or movie.

Kasey Ho – Piano

Kasey Ho has been playing the violin and piano since a young age. She started playing the piano at the age of 5, and has grown to appreciate the tranquility that music brings. She performed at various recitals and is comfortable in front of large audiences. In addition, she has been playing the violin since 9. She plays music from various composers and understands a variety of different styles.

Amanda New – Violin

Amanda New is a grade 11 student who plays the violin. She enjoys playing in group settings and with friends. Outside of music, she enjoys drawing, playing tennis, and watching movies.

Max’s String Quartet

Max Liu – 1st Violin

Max is a second year student at SFU pursuing a bachelors in Computer Science. He started his piano career at the age of 7, followed by violin at age 10, playing in competitions such as the Canadian Music Competition, Young Musicians Competition, along with performing in Italy’s Music Fest Perugia. Max has also joined a variety of ensembles throughout his career, such as the Coquitlam Youth Orchestra, SFU Concert Orchestra, and the Aramis quartet.

Yeseo Choi – 2nd Violin

Yeseo has played the violin for 6 years and it very talented. She enjoys playing video games in her free time!

Marysia Niemczyk – Viola

Marysia has studied violin and piano with Conservatory Canada for 15 years, and has been playing Viola for 1 year. She enjoys playing chamber music and orchestral works, and working on solo repetoire. She plays with the West Coast Symphony and her favourite composers are Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky. She enjoys to draw, watch movies and dance ballet.

Hailey Kim – Cello

Hailey has played the cello for 8 years. She is currently apart of the Coquitlam Youth Orchestra and has participated in several different chamber ensembles. She enjoys playing chamber music and also likes to listen to classical music.
